Anyone in the UAE can join RELOF as a buyer or seller. Every seller completes a KYC (Know Your Customer) process - including Emirates ID verification - before they can list. Buyers register with a valid UAE phone number and email address, but do not need to submit identity documents. This is a deliberate design choice: sellers are fully accountable for the items they list, and every item exchanged can be independently confirmed as genuine.

The UAE is home to one of the world's most active luxury fashion markets. Dubai in particular has a large community of buyers and sellers with genuine pre-owned luxury pieces - Chanel bags purchased during European travels, Hermès accessories received as gifts, Louis Vuitton luggage that has barely been used. RELOF provides a structured, safe environment for that community to trade.

How authentication works on RELOF

Authentication on RELOF happens after a buyer purchases an item and before it is delivered - not before listing. This is an important distinction. When a buyer completes checkout, their payment is held in escrow. If the item requires authentication, it is sent for independent review through LegitGrails, a third-party authentication service specialising in luxury goods, before the item is shipped to the buyer.

This means a buyer is never in a position where they receive an item and then discover it needs to be authenticated. The authentication result is known before the item changes hands. If a piece fails authentication, the transaction is unwound and the buyer is refunded. The item does not reach the buyer.

Authentication is mandatory for certain categories and brands. High-value bags from Hermès, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Dior are routinely subject to mandatory authentication. Sellers are informed at the listing stage whether their item will require authentication before delivery.

Who can buy and sell on RELOF

RELOF is built for individuals in the UAE - primarily Dubai and Abu Dhabi - who own genuine pre-owned luxury items and want to sell them in a structured, professional environment. RELOF vs open marketplaces

Open resale platforms allow anyone to list anything, which creates a verification problem at scale. Buyers on open platforms must rely on seller reputation scores, photos, and their own authentication judgement. For lower-priced items this works reasonably well. For a AED 15,000 Chanel Classic Flap, it introduces significant risk.

RELOF takes a different position. By requiring seller identity verification, authenticating high-value items before delivery, and handling the transaction locally within the UAE, the platform reduces the uncertainty that makes luxury resale stressful. Sellers receive payment directly to a UAE wallet once the buyer has accepted the item. There is no international shipping, no currency conversion risk, and no waiting weeks for a payout.

This is a trade-off. RELOF is smaller and more curated than global platforms. But for UAE-based buyers and sellers dealing in genuine luxury items, that curation is the point.
